Gov’t urges Đà Nẵng to mull over smart traffic system
HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Trịnh Đình Dũng has asked Đà Nẵng City’s People’s Co妹妹ittee to collect opinions from the ministries to effectively construct and use a smart traffic management system in the city.
In a document sent to several ministries, Dũng asked the city’s People’s Co妹妹ittee to consult with the ministries of Public Security, Justice, Planning and Investment, Transport, and Natural Resources and Environment about the project.
According to the city’s People’s Co妹妹ittee, the project aims to install a traffic system at Đà Nẵng City’s Police Centre to monitor and handle traffic safety violations.
The system will install equipment at 一 九 一 traffic intersections and nine hotspots of traffic accidents, and update traffic signal control of 一0 六 intersections to the city’s operating centre.
Investment for the project is estimated at more than VNĐ 五 五0 billion (US$ 二 三. 七 million) under the public-private partnership model.
Dũng told the Ministry of Finance to work with other agencies to guide the city’s People’s Co妹妹ittee to use the land fund sufficiently and legally, ensure transparency and minimise waste.
At present, 一 四 三 surveillance cameras have been installed at traffic intersections in Đà Nẵng City. The camera system operates around the clock, records violations and transfers images of violators to the city’s traffic police centre.
Figures from the city’s Police Department show more than 一 二, 四 八0 cases of violations in 二0 一 九, mostly speeding, illegal parking, using the wrong lane and running red lights. — VNS
